Evidently this does not mean the elimination or interruption of the activity of these professionals in places where other resources are not easy and accessible economically short-term, since its paper of human and social support to the childbirth of the women of these regions still is understood and enaltecido. Nurse obstetra is the denomination most recent and consolidates the nurse formation (substantive), labelled for the titulao of specialist in the area (obstetra, as adjective). Although they seem nuances of lesser importance, they translate modifications in the legislation of education and the conception how much to the formation modality and of the proper profession (RIESCO, 1998). In Brazil, in century XIX, the formal education of obstetricians was initiated next to the medical schools, that had controlled its formation until middle of century XX. Of 1832 up to 1949, all the legislation of the education of obstetricians was contained in the legislation of the education of the medicine.
